Investment of nearly $2 million will add 25 jobs at the company's headquarters and warehouse

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — United Art and Education, Inc., a nationwide supplier of art and education-related supplies and materials, announced that the company will invest $1,950,000 during the next three years to expand its corporate headquarters and warehouse facilities at 4413 Airport Expressway. The expansion will result in 25 additional jobs by year-end 2009. The company’s investment includes more than doubling the size of its existing building and the addition of IT and distribution equipment.

“We are proud to be able to expand in the community in which this company started and has prospered,” stated Michael Gugel, president of United Art and Education. “Fort Wayne offers the optimum location and business climate for this business to continue its growth in response to burgeoning customer demand.”

“United Art and Education represents the very best of the business spirit in Fort Wayne, backed by a solid record of customer-driven growth and a positive outlook for future,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard. “Fort Wayne is proud to be the headquarters of United Art and Education and to assist the growth of this employer in the community.”

“United Art and Education is a nationally recognized supplier to teachers, schools and individuals, and an important long-time presence in this community,” stated M. James Johnston, chair of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance Board of Directors. The Alliance worked with United Art and Education, the City of Fort Wayne, Goldstine Knapke Company and Master Group to secure this investment. The City of Fort Wayne will provide a $40,000 grant to assist in the company’s expansion. In addition, Fort Wayne Common Council may consider a tax abatement for the building addition and planned equipment purchase.

Since 1960, United Art and Education has served schools, artists and hobbyists nationwide through its school supplies and art materials catalogs, in addition to retail stores in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Mishawaka and Goshen; and in Dublin and Centerville, Ohio. The company’s web site provides resources to teachers and parents at www.UnitedNow.com. Independently owned and operated, United Art and Education is committed to serving schools, organizations and individuals with quality products, competitive price and friendly customer service.
