United Art and Education, Inc. is pleased to announce that its retail store,
located at 136 East McKinley Avenue, in Mishawaka, Indiana, will soon move to a new,
larger building, located at 5924 Grape Road. The new store, only a few miles from
the current location, will be part of the Indian Ridge Plaza, at the corner of Grape
Road and Indian Ridge Drive. By moving to the new building, the store will nearly
double its current sales floor area and will be able to carry United Art and Education's
full line of art materials, in addition to the teaching materials already found at the
store. The new location will give the store more visibility in the community and offer
more convenience for customers.
"Our current customer base of educators, parents, churches, day cares and other organizations
will benefit from an increased selection of art materials. They will benefit even more from our
ability to display items more conveniently and by providing them with a less crowded, more
comfortable and shoppable environment," said Mike Gugel, President. "For the fine art buyer
we will offer a complete selection of competitively priced art materials including oil paints,
acrylics, easels, airbrush supplies, fine paper, screen printing and block printing supplies.
With nearly 10,000 art related items we will have a selection that matches anything in the state."
Mishawaka store manager Susie Nobbe wants to reassure current customers that the store is not leaving
or cutting its educational product line whatsoever. "I hope to provide the community with the same
great customer service and product line that they are used to, while offering expanded supplies
and service to the art community," Nobbe said.
While the exact date of the move is yet to be determined, the company is anticipating the move to
be sometime in late spring. "My only concerns are for a smooth transition to the new location.
We want to minimize down time during the move. We also want to minimize confusion for the customer
and eliminate, to whatever level is possible, the likelihood that customers will drive to our old
location only to find that we are no longer in business there," said Gugel. "My hope is that we
can build on the excellent foundation of service and selection provided by the current location,
and raise it to an even more appealing level. I think that this store has the potential of being
the finest resource of its kind in the entire country."
In addition to the Mishawaka location, United Art and Education has six other retail stores in
Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and Goshen as well as in Dublin and Centerville, Ohio. Its corporate
headquarters, located in Fort Wayne, is also home to its warehouse and mail-order catalog operations.
United Art and Education has been serving teachers and schools nationwide for more than 40 years
and is committed to providing competitive pricing and fast, friendly customer service.
