Age Range: Elementary
Time: 1 Class Period
Difficulty: Moderate
Cleanup: Soap & Water

   Directions

Step 1: Cut one piece of WonderFoam into four 3x9” pieces, to make bat wings (one sheet makes four wings). Note: To cut wing scallops, fold piece in half and cut both sides at once. Divide one 4 oz. bag of Model Magic into four equal parts (one package makes four bats). Have students use one half of the Model Magic to make a body and split the other half into two ears, a head and two legs.  >>view picture

Step 2: Form the body around the bat wings. Cut one stem into eight equal parts. Note: One stem makes one bat. Push two wiggle eyes into the head shape. Note: If pushed in far enough, eyes do not need to be glued. To finish head, add two stems as fangs. Have students insert three stems into each leg as claws.  >>view picture

Step 3: Assemble bat body parts while Model Magic is still tacky, no glue required. Note: Model Magic has a specific workability time, around one class period. Add character by forming to desired shape. Unbend a paper clip to create a loop and push into bat’s back to hang at preferred angle. String with yarn.  >>view picture
