The colombina is a half-mask that is well known for its elaborate decorations for the Carnival of Venice in Italy. This project shows you how to use beads and sculpture wire to create your own mask!

Steps

  • Step 1
Paint the paperboard mask with metallic acrylic paint.
  • Step 2
Poke a hole through the mask with the needle tool and thread the wire through the hole. String a bead on the wire and then poke another hole. Thread the wire back through the hole.
  • Step 3
Continue to poke holes, threading the wire and stringing beads. When additional wire is needed you can secure ends with tape if desired.
  • Step 4
Keep poking holes, threading the wire and stringing beads until the desired look is achieved and the mask is completed.
