Create clean lines using canvas panels in this abstract painting! This project also has an instructional video available!
Steps
- Step 1Choose a black Cut Edge Canvas Panel for the base and white Cut Edge Canvas Panel for the top design. This example uses two 8x10" panels.
- Step 2Use a ruler to draw a geometric abstract design on the back of the white panel. Remember it will be reversed when turned over.
- Step 3Number the pieces of the design. With a craft knife and metal ruler, cut apart the design.
- Step 4Using the numbers, turn over and reassemble the design on top of the black panel.
- Step 5Choose pieces that will remain the black of the canvas panel and set those pieces aside.
- Step 6Paint the pieces with acrylic and glue them in place, keeping the pieces as close together as possible. Use the pieces that will be the black spaces for positioning only; don't glue them in place.
- Step 7To finish, take the remaining unglued shapes and glue them down to create a third layer to the design. Notice the sharp, clean lines the cut shapes have in the design.
