Make a beautiful snowy sunset with acrylics and watercolors! This project also has an instructional video available!
Steps
- Step 1Use masking tape to secure a piece of watercolor paper to a table or board. Using a pencil, lightly draw a tree shape on the edge of the page. Wet the paper where the sunset will be painted. Using Prang watercolors, paint sunset colors, remembering to blend where new colors start. Allow to dry.
- Step 2Using Crayola Portfolio black acrylic, paint the tree trunk and limbs. Allow painting to dry completely.
- Step 3Using a round brush and a small amount of Crayola Portfolio white acrylic paint, lay the brush on its side and roll gently to make a bark pattern. Be careful not to overload the brush with paint; it should be a drybrush technique. Add highlights to the corners and tops of the branches.
- Step 4Using a white Gelly Roll gel pen, add dots to look like snowflakes.
- Bonus IdeaCreate an animal from air dry clay, paper, or media of your choice to sit on the branch. Some suggestions are owl, bat, squirrel, bird, etc.
