Steps

  • Step 1
Cut two rectangles of Oly-Fun Craft Fabric; they should measure about 6x9". With a black Sharpie, draw a line 1/2" in from both 9" sides.
  • Step 2
Create a mouth outline by drawing 3" tall triangles on one end of both of the rectangles, as shown.
  • Step 3
Glue the two rectangles together along the 9" horizontal lines, up to the beginning of the mouth, with the Surebonder Cool Shot Mini Glue Gun. Make sure to overlap at least 1/4" of fabric when gluing. Trim off excess fabric with scissors or a craft knife. Note: Do not use a regular hot glue gun; the hot glue will damage the fabric.
  • Step 4
Starting at the mouth line, fold each mouth flap back onto the puppet body.
  • Step 5
Cut a 6x6" square of fabric and fold it over both sides, covering the mouth flaps.
  • Step 6
Glue the square to the mouth flaps along the triangle lines, then trim off all the excess around the triangles.
  • Step 7
Turn the puppet inside out, so the glued seams are on the inside.
  • Step 8
Cut foam triangles and glue them inside the mouth to stiffen.
  • Step 9
Attach foam, felt or fabric ears, wiggle eyes, chenille stem tails and whiskers, pom pon nose and other desired details.
