Create stunning dinosaurs with a bit of art paste and paper! This project also has an instructional video available!

  • Step 1
Crumple newsprint together and tape with masking tape to create different parts of the dinosaur: body, legs, neck, head and tail. With more masking tape, then attach together to form the dinosaur. This example will be a Brontosaurus.
  • Step 2
Cut a 20x30" sheet of corrugated cardboard in half and use as a base. Mix the art paste according to the directions on the package. Cover the base with a layer of paste. Crumple newsprint to make it look like mountains and adhere it to the base with more paste.
  • Step 3
Dip small strips of newsprint into the paste and use them to cover the dinosaur completely. Secure the dinosaur to the base with more small strips.
  • Step 4
Crumple more paper to make a foreground, and attach to the relief with paste and paper strips.
  • Step 5
Make some plants and other foliage. For specific tips on how to create various plants and leaves, see our video on YouTube.
  • Step 6
Paint the plants with acrylics before attaching them to the relief. Tip: Using white glue or a glue gun to attach the plants may be easier than using the paste. Let the relief dry.
  • Step 7
Paint the relief with acrylic paints.
  • Example 1
    Example: Triceratops
  • Example 2
    Example: Stegosaurus
