Use linoleum blocks to create a block print with metallic inks and your own unique pattern!
Steps
- Step 1So you know where to print, trace around the 2x2" linoleum block 12 times, making three rows of four squares on a piece of Subi Paper. Next, you will need four metallic inks—gold, silver, copper and pewter. Use the brayer to ink the linoleum block with the first color, print the square. Print this color three times. Continue printing with the other three colors until all 12 squares are printed making sure the same color never touches itself. (You will need to wash the block between each color.)
- Step 2With permanent marker, draw a design on the 2x2" linoleum block.
- Step 3Use the linoleum cutter to remove the background of the design. Leave the outline and the rest of the design intact.
- Step 4Print the block following the same directions as Step 1. Make sure you don't print the same color on top of itself or touching itself on this layer.
- Step 5Next, remove more of the design with the linoleum cutter, leaving only the lines you wish to print.
- Step 6Finally, print the design 12 times with black ink.
