Use Dura-Lar Clear Film and paint to make a bowl that resembles faux handblown glass! This project also has an instructional video available!
Steps
- Step 1Draw a 9" circle on the protective blue plastic of the 20 mil. Dura-Lar Clear Film. Use scissors to cut out the circle. Remove the blue plastic from the film.
- Step 2Use the Deco Art Glass Paint Markers (first example), the Americana Gloss Enamels (second example) or a combination of both (third example) to decorate the film.
- Step 3While the paint is drying, find a paint jar (or bowl) to use as a form. The size of the jar's lid will determine the size of the bowl's bottom. Place a piece of tape on the lid of the jar and then place the film, with the painted side facing up, onto the tape to secure it to the lid.
- Step 4Use the heat tool to slowly melt the plastic film. Move the heat tool to different areas frequently, taking care not to burn the film. Once the film has taken the desired shape, allow it to cool and then remove it from the lid.
