Masking Tape
Use a cardboard loom and some raffia to weave a coaster!
Steps
- Step 1To start, you will need 25 strands of raffia, in the colors of your choice. String each strand through the notches of the cardboard loom (as warp). Tape securely to the back and trim strands evenly.
- Step 2Use needle to weave strands of raffia 4" from the bottom of the loom (which leaves enough raffia to make fringe). Use different colors to make patterns (knot raffia together if necessary). It takes around 5-10 strands to weave a 5x5" coaster.
- Step 3After the weaving process is finished, remove the tape from the back of the loom and take the strands out of the notches. Gather five strands into a bunch and knot a piece of raffia around the bunch. Repeat nine more times until all of the warp is gathered and knotted. Trim fringe evenly with scissors.
