Use rocks, Crayola Model Magic and some paint to make fun ruck turtles! This project also has an instructional video available!
Steps
- Step 1Practice drawing a basic turtle shell on paper. Use the Step 1 pictures for an easy guide to drawing the shell pattern.
- Step 2Select a rock to be your turtle shell. Paint the base coat green with acrylic paint. Next, using white, add the turtle shell pattern learned in Step 1. Add several layers of highlights, each slightly smaller and lighter in color than the last, to the centers of the spaces.
- Step 3Knead a bit of Model Magic until it is smooth and slightly stretchy. Make a base for your turtle the size of your rock shell. Sculpt legs, head and tail. Add this turtle body to the bottom of the rock shell.
- Step 4Roll tiny balls of Model Magic to make eyes and attach to the head. Finally, use a sculpting tool to add details such as claws. Allow to dry 24 hours.
- Step 5Optional: Add body accents, such as knees, claws or eyes with acrylic paint.
