Make beautiful outdoor chalk drawings using soft pastels.

Steps

• Step 1
  Draw an outline of your design with white chalk. If desired, use tape to mask off areas or create straight lines.
• Step 2
  Starting at one corner, moving diagonal across your square, use the large sticks drawing chalk or sidewalk chalk to color in larger areas.
• Step 3
  To finish, use soft pastels for detailed highlights and shadows. Remove tape.
• Optional Tip 1
  Use latex gloves to keep hands clean and protect fingers while blending chalk.
• Optional Tip 2
  Apply a coat of tempera paint to the ground before drawing with chalk.
