Create a colorful glass gem pendant with glass paint! This project also has an instructional video available!

Steps

  • Step 1
Using Glass Paint Markers, paint a design on the flat side of the clear glass gem. Leave some spaces uncovered so the leafing will show through. Allow the design to dry completely.
  • Step 2
Brush a very thin coat of Mona Lisa Adhesive Size onto the back of the glass gem, on top of the dried design. Allow the adhesive to dry (use a blow dryer if desired). When dry, the adhesive should be tacky but not wet. Place flat side of gem onto a sheet of metal leaf. Gently move the gem away from the rest of the sheet and brush away excess leafing. To protect the finish, brush Mona Lisa Metal Leaf Sealer onto the metal leafing and allow to dry.
  • Optional Tip 1: Wrapping Method 1
Cut a piece of wire measuring 12 to 18" in length. Make a loop at one end. Wrap wire around the gem finishing back at the top loop. Wrap the end around the loop to secure and finish. Trim excess.
  • Optional Tip 2: Wrapping Method 2
Cut a piece of wire measuring 12 to 18" in length. Bend wire in half, make a loop in the center. Use the two ends to wrap the gem, finishing at the top loop. Wrap ends around the loop to finish. Trim excess.
  • Optional Tip 3
Experiment with other ways to finish the gems, like pounded metal, Sculpey and more.
