Fun With Paper Plates: Porthole Project

Materials:
Hygloss Collage Trays or Paper Plates
9x12" Mixed Media Paper
Scissors
Craft Knife
Pencil or Marker
Tempera Paint
Paint Brushes
Glue

Steps

  • Step 1
    Cut out the center of the collage tray (or paper plate) with scissors or a craft knife, and set aside.
  • Step 2
    Use tempera paint to give the porthole window a rim and some bolts.
  • Step 3
    Draw a sandy "ground" and other background pieces on the center circle that was cut out in Step 1. Next cut them apart and paint each piece.
  • Step 4
    Paint a blue background on a 9x12” sheet of mixed media paper.
  • Step 5
    Glue the porthole to the background sheet, then glue in the sandy ground piece.
  • Step 6
    Attach the rest of the pieces with glue. Finish by cutting off the excess paper on the outside of the porthole.
