Create a cool collage with origami paper! This project also has an instructional video available!
Steps
- Step 1Fold a sheet of 5-7/8 x 5-7/8" origami paper into 16 squares. Enhance the folds with pencil so they are easier to see.
- Step 2Cut the squares apart, being sure to make them even.
- Step 3Repeat steps 1 and 2 with 30 different colors. We used a 200-count package with 100 colors, so there are lots of shades to choose from. If you give each student two or three sheets of paper, the task will go quickly. Students can trade with each other until they have 30 different colors.
- Step 4Cut the squares into different geometric shapes.
- Step 5Using the larger shapes, arrange the first layer and glue to a piece of black construction paper.
- Step 6Using the smaller shapes, arrange the second layer and glue on top of the first layer. Use the white side of the paper to create the smallest shapes and enhance the bottom layer. Trim edges of the construction paper when finished.
