Create a textured wave with Sculptamold! This project also has an instructional video available!
Steps
- Step 1Using Hokusai’s "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa" for inspiration, draw a wave on a sheet of 12x12" chipboard.
- Step 2In a bowl, mix 3 cups of Sculptamold with water so that it is the consistency of clay. Sculptamold sets in 30 minutes, so be sure to complete each step before moving on.
- Step 3Wearing gloves, use your hands to apply a flat, thin layer of Sculptamold to the background wave. Add a heavier layer to the middle wave. Finally, add the heaviest layer to the forefront wave. Make the waves slant slightly from back to front.
- Step 4Mix 2 cups of Sculptamold with water; it should be the same consistency as the first batch. Use to create peaks on the waves. Add texture, ridges and curves using sculpting tools.
- Step 5Once the Sculptamold has set, paint the wave with acrylics, layering from dark to light.
- Optional TipFor additional gloss, add Liquitex Gloss Heavy Gel.
