Use railroad board and metallic paints to create an abstract pin.

Steps

  • Step 1
Cut railroad board into 3x3" squares and distribute one to each student. With scissors cut an abstract base shape, leaving enough surface area to attach a pin back onto the back of the square.
  • Step 2
With spare pieces of railroad board, cut additional pieces and glue layers onto the base in an abstract design.
  • Step 3
Paint three coats on pin with chosen color(s) of Magic Metallics, it is okay to mix and match colors. Allow paint to dry after the first two coats. While third coat is wet or still damp, spray with patina colors. Watch as different metallic effects appear. Let pin dry.
  • Step 4
Glue pin back onto the back of the pin.
  • Optional Tip 1
To speed timing of project, use a hair dryer to accelerate drying time.
  • Optional Tip 2
Pin backs may be attached to the 3x3" square before base is cut to save additional time.
