Explore real and implied textures as you create a neighborhood.
Steps
- Step 1On a 6x9” piece of watercolor paper, make a sketch of your home.
- Step 2Using watercolor crayons, lightly color your background. Use water and a brush to blend the watercolor crayons. Let dry.
- Step 3Create collage papers with implied texture by making crayon rubbings on blank paper.
- Step 4Using the textured collage papers, cut or tear pieces to create your house and other elements in your piece. Glue the pieces to your background paper.
- Step 5Using Bold & Bright crayons, add details, such as doors and windows to your house.
- Step 6Add real texture by gluing on additional collage materials, such as fabric, feathers, paper, pompoms, etc. to your piece.

- Create The NeighborhoodOnce all the houses are completed, create a neighborhood by punching small holes along each edge. String through the holes, joining the individual pieces together.
