Steps
- Step 1Cut a sheet of graph paper into an 8-1/2" square and glue to the back of a sheet of construction paper.
- Step 2Cut off the excess construction paper, leaving the graph paper square.
- Step 3Cut one 8-1/2" circle out of construction paper. Cut three more circles, each one at least 1" smaller than the previous.
- Step 4Center and trace the circles onto the graph paper. Draw dissecting lines, dividing your circles into 12-16 equal sections and creating guidelines for the design.
- Step 5Center and glue the circles onto the construction paper side of the paper. See our YouTube video for tips for easy centering.
- Step 6Poke holes through the paper where the dissecting lines and circles meet.
- Step 7Using colored pencils to match the colors of your craft thread, draw your mandala design on the graph paper, using the guidelines for reference.
- Step 8Select a color of craft thread matching one of the pencil lines and begin sewing the design, using the colored guidelines.
- Step 9Repeat until all colors have been stitched onto the paper, creating a mandala.
- Optional TipExperiment with different color combinations.
