Use self-hardening clay to create your own toucan!

Steps

• Step 1
  Give each student about 1 lb. of clay and divide into thirds.
• Step 2
  Use two-thirds to make a pinch pot and turn it upside down (this makes up the bird's body).
• Step 3
  Sculpt neck, head and beak from remaining clay (be sure to score clay when attaching to body), then use the tools to add details.
• Step 4
  Add chenille stems as feathers.
• Step 5
  Paint with acrylic or tempera and allow toucan to dry.
