AMACO Crawls High Fire Glaze Red
Details
Bring ceramic surfaces to life with the unique, spontaneous patterns of Crawls. Traditionally seen as a flaw, these glazes are made to embrace glaze crawl. Crawling occurs when the glaze pulls back from the surface during firing, creating a textured, uneven finish that reveals the underlying clay body or other glaze layers. Ideal for larger forms with significant surface area, Crawls require space to develop their unique look. Glazes can be used by themselves or layered over underglazes or other Cone 5-6 glazes for dynamic effects. Apply 1-4 even coats of glaze to cone 04 bisque. Allow each coat to dry almost fully, but before any significant cracking occurs. Crawl glazes will develop hairline cracks as they dry; handle with care. More coats create larger glaze dots, while thinner coats produce a finer bead effect. Increased coats will produce more cracks. Fire to Cone 5-6 for best results. For added durability before firing, layer over an AMACO Celadon glaze or underglaze. Not food safe. Pint jar of Red. AP Seal, non-toxic.
