Study Australian Aboriginal art, then create a drawing of a kangaroo. This project also has an instructional video available!
Steps
- Step 1Study Australian aboriginal symbols. This project uses the symbols for sun, water and kangaroo tracks.
- Step 2Find pictures of kangaroos jumping. Trace the outline of the kangaroo to use as a template.
Or, you can print our template for the kangaroo, as well as the sun and kangaroo tracks: Kangaroo Template - Step 3On a 12x18" sheet of black construction paper, draw and cut out the kangaroo shape, circles for the sun, and kangaroo tracks. Arrange the pieces and glue them to a piece of 12x18" dark brown construction paper.
- Step 4Using construction paper crayons, embellish the symbols with dots and patterns.
- Step 5Add wavy lines to represent the stream.
- Step 6Complete by filling in the background with dots and patterns.
