Fun With Paper Plates: Fancy Guppy Project

Materials:
Hygloss Collage Trays or Paper Plates
Roylco Color Diffusing Circles
Liquid Watercolors
Scissors
Pencil or Marker
Tempera Paint
Paint Brushes
Glue

Steps

  • Step 1
    Draw two lines on a collage tray (or paper plate) as shown, 2" in from the top and bottom of the plate. Draw a 1/2" tab on the top of the lower line.
  • Step 2
    Cut the tray apart on the lines, then glue the pieces together, attaching the tab behind the top piece.
  • Step 3
    Cut out a notch for the mouth. Cut out an eye from the center of the tray and attach with glue. Paint with your choice of tempera paints.
  • Step 4
    To create fins and a tail, begin by folding up a Roylco Color Diffusing Circle as shown.
  • Step 5
    Add different colors of liquid watercolor, allowing the colors to bleed through each layer. Unfold and let the circle dry.
  • Step 6
    Cut off two fins, leaving the middle for a tail, as shown.
  • Step 7
    To finish, attach the fins and tail to your guppy with glue.
