Sandy Texture Tree Project

Construction Paper

Steps

  • Step 1
    Fold a sheet of 9x12" construction paper in half, then draw the main limbs of a tree on one side of the paper with white glue.


  • Step 2
    Add smaller branches to the main limbs.


  • Step 3
    Fold the paper in half again, opening quickly so the paper doesn't stick to itself.


  • Step 4
    Cover the entire sheet with brown or black sand.


  • Step 5
    Allow the glue to dry, then pick up the paper and carefully funnel the extra sand back into the container.

  • Step 6
    Color several sheets of construction paper with oil pastels and/or crayons. Our example uses 1/3 sheet of three green colors. Tear the sheets into 1/2" shapes, then glue them to the tree. Try with fall colors, too! Optional: Crumple the paper before tearing to add more texture to the leaf shapes.
